A Day At Little Dalton
(Local Stream)

Our Little Dalton Local Stream routine prioritizes holistic development and ensures students are engaged in their learning through a variety of learning experiences. Children thrive in our language-rich environment, where they learn Cantonese, English, Putonghua, and Spanish. We foster independence throughout our daily routine, allowing children to grow and learn at their own pace. Through engaging activities, we also focus on developing and refining fine and gross motor skills, ensuring well-rounded development for every child.

During our class routine, children are involved in:

Circle Time

During this session, children are focused on storytelling, songs, or classwork instructions by the class teacher. Sharing and discussion between the class teacher and students take place during this time.

Language Focus

Specialist language teachers use storytelling, songs, and interactive activities and games to teach English, Putonghua and Spanish during specialist language classes. Language focus activities are designed to help develop and refine student’s listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in each language.

Library

Students enjoy time exploring books in our school library and choose books to enjoy with their families at home each week.

Music

Children engage in musical activities where they get to try out different instruments and learn different songs accompanied by dance movements. Music time fosters rhythmic skills and introduces students to basic music concepts such as beat, tempo, and pitch.

Snack, Washroom, Greetings & Dismissal

These routine activities promote and develop independence and self-care skills, simultaneously developing student confidence and self esteem.

Physical Education and Daily Movement

Both fine and gross motor skills are developed during these sessions. Children enjoy the spacious playground where they can exercise and play, developing various skills like cycling, jumping, running, throwing, and catching. Students are able to further foster social and collaboration skills during physical movement activities.

Theme-Related Free Choice Pla-

Children explore materials according to their own interests and according to the theme of inquiry. Free choice play activities are designed to help students to build up and refine a wide variety of different skills and build on their knowledge. Local stream classrooms have implemented Montessori materials into the classroom settings for children to explore during free choice sessions.

Social / Fine Motor / S.T.E.A.M. Activities

Students engage in classroom activities and play dedicated to developing social confidence, engagement skills, and fine motor control. During these sessions students are often engaging in activities which are dedicated to learning in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math areas.

Our K1 to K3 full-day students benefit from:
